About the WVC

The creation of a unique tournament.

The Willamette Volleyball Classic (WVC) was founded in 2007 as a way to grow volleyball in the Corvallis area and in the northwest.  Conducted annually at Oregon State University, the tournament drew 180 teams to Corvallis in 2009.

The tournament organizers were looking for a way to make this tournament unlike any other tournament in the area, and in many ways they succeeded.  The most unique characteristic of the tournament is FanFest, located in the Truax Indoor Center.  FanFest features numerous concessions and food vendors, a retail store by ASICS - featuring the latest in ASICS' volleyball line, music, interactive areas, skill testing areas, and much more.

Additionally, the tournament is held annually on Mother's Day Weekend, which leads to an even more unique feel.  Each year the tournament hosts the Mother's Day Brunch in the Reser Stadium Loge, a picturesque setting perfect for celebrating mom's special day.

The premise behind the Willamette Volleyball Classic was simply the expansion of volleyball in the northwest.  The tournament organizers are all volleyball enthusiasts who believe that the sport can grow in this region.  The tournament gives clubs from throughout the country the chance to experience the northwest, and gives the Corvallis community a chance to witness the sport firsthand.

Going into its fourth year of existence, the Willamette Volleyball Classic looks to continue its unprecedented growth stemming from the first two successful years.  With the growth of the tournament, combined with other efforts within Corvallis, the organizers are confident that the sport will have a solid base in the community for years to come.
